ACT Knights reigned over Jaclupan NHS, 2-1


ACT Knights steered Asian College of Technology to a shutout win over Jaclupan National High School (Jaclupan NHS), 2-1, during the District II Meet 2019 badminton tournament on Friday, September 27 at Virgen delas Escuelas Pias School, Talisay City, Cebu.

ACT Knights doubles Dan Paolo Ballares and John Raphael Jacobe bagged a gold medal against Kshore Getgano and Jave Tenebroso of Jaclupan NHS.

ACT Knights clinched the first set against their opponent by 21-18.

Jacobe took the first four points and took the last point for the set, 21-18.

Grade 10 student Jacobe said, “Mark Cogtas, a grade 8 student of ours inspired me to win the match because he lost on his since we are already leaving ACT for we are on our last year of being a part of the ACT Knights. We all want to give our medals to him because he is one of the pillars that made our team stand proud.”

Jaclupan NHS grabbed the second set with the score of 21-13 with Getgano on the lead and Tenebroso on the winning point.

ACT Knights badminton moderator said, “Grabe mga preparation. Grabe mga training” He said, “Problem is time.” (The preparation was scrupulous. The training were heavy.)

On the third set, Jacobe and Ballares showed their full energy by demolishing the opponent with the score of 15-11 that made them triumphant.

16 year old Ballares claimed that his greatest strength was quickness.

ACT Knights coach JL Mendez said, “nice ang performace, wa na sayang ilang training, naa silay determination” (Their performance was nice. Their training were not wasted. They had determination.)
