RHINITIS

The respiratory system  is responsible for taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide. There are three major parts of the respiratory system --- namely the airways, lungs and the muscles of respiration. But what if one part of our airways is damaged? Can we still be comfortably breathing? How do we know what disease is occurring in our respiratory system? How do we prevent this? Let's find out how.

Discussion:
Rhinitis is the inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose. It is commonly caused by allergy reactions such as pollen, dust and animal dander. This is characterized by sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes and itchiness. To prevent this disease, you must take non-sedative antihistamine and decongestants. When untreated, patient may result to severe complications such as infection in the middle ear and the Eustachian tube dysfunction. An example is shown above.

Link to Economics:
Economics is all about decision making. It is your choice to keep your respiratory system healthy. Researching and checking beforehand the foods and drinks you are about to eat, having your monthly check up and being careful with your surroundings are three of the many good decisions you should make. Another three wise decisions are always eating and drinking healthy foods and if experiencing rhinitis symptoms, always consult a doctor.

Decision making is also included when you plan your budget. But what if your budget won't be enough for all your needs, especially, now, you have rhinitis? Your budget which is enough for all your monthly needs is now not enough for the addition of all your medications.

     Example:

This is your usual monthly budget, but when medications add up to your expenses, this happens:

Instead of a budget plan of PHP10,000, it exceeds to almost PHP500 because of your health. But, PHP500 is not enough for your medications. For rhinitis, non-sedative antihistamines and decongestants, when combined, could be more or less PHP1,600. Non-sedative antihistamines ranges from PHP800 and above and decongestants ranges from PHP500 and above. You still need to add up your check ups and consultations from doctors, which are more or less PHP500.

Therefore, healthcare adds up a great amount to your budget, so we should always make sure to take care of our body and to always eat and live healthy.
